P149. PIONEER "SHOTGUN SHOOTER" HEMI CHARGER R/T, ‘Route 66’, Limited Edition of just 624 units.

Continuing the ‘Route 66’ series of models from Pioneer, here is an all-white version of the Dodge Charger HEMI R/T, presented in a night time themed ‘Route 66’ box. This version is called "Shotgun Shooter".

There is a white sticker to the front face of the picture sleeve that says: ‘Shotgun Shooter, Route 66 edition’. There are only 624 units of this car. Each example has a numbered sticker to the box and also one to the outer packaging cover.

A fuller ‘explanation’ of this model is perhaps best summed up by Pioneer like this:-

"This is the Assassins' previous car from early 1968 before it was changed to a black 440 R/T and they got involved in a car chase with Lt. Frank Bullitt. Their regular Hit Man business was busy most of 1968 with late night special activities up and down Route 66 out of Santa Monica CA. This profitable venture came to a dramatic end in late 1968 when both bad guys met a deservedly nasty end after a somewhat explosive time in a gas station off a California highway”.
